The Shaker kitchen derives its name from the 18th century religious ‘Shaker’ community who believed that elegance, simplicity and usefulness worked ‘hand-in-hand. This was a philosophy they applied to everyday items such as their furniture.
The Shaker kitchen is the epitome of their pure and simple design principles. It features square framed doors with plain, recessed, centre panels. It is this clean, fuss free look that has made the Shaker such an ‘evergreen’ and versatile choice for homeowners over the years – regardless of kitchen size or budget! Use a ’Butler’ or ‘Belfast’ style sink with old style granite tops and handles to create a very traditional look. Alternatively, dress with slender, square edged quartz tops, stainless steel accessories and an exciting colour shade for that sleek contemporary look!
